I am a Research Associate Professor at Umeå University (Department of Political Science) and the University of São Paulo (Graduate Programme in Latin American Studies).

Before Umeå, I was a Research Fellow at Harvard University's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (2023–24), a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Copenhagen (2021–23), and a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne (2018–21), having begun my career as an Assistant Professor at the Australian National University (2015–16).

My research examines how hierarchy in world politics is constituted and contested, with particular attention to the peripheries of world order. This work has appeared in Perspectives on Politics, the Review of International Political Economy, International Affairs, Foreign Policy Analysis, Cooperation & Conflict, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Emotion.

I have received funding from the European Union, Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Global Affairs Canada, Australia's Department of Education, Brazil's Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), and the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp).
